The Neillsville Airport was created in the early 1970's. It is the only paved runway in Clark County in which Neillsville is the County seat.
This is the second Neillsville Airport. The first was a grass strip located 4 miles west of Neillsville. Even though the grass strip was called the Neillsville airport, it was a private strip. The City of Neillsville realized the importance aviation could play for the community, so the official airport was designed.
The Kurt Listeman Foundation contributed a good share of money to assist the City of Neillsville and the Bureau of Aeronautics in developing and building the airport. The airport carries Kurt Listeman's name in honor of that contribution.
