Temporary MOA

The Federal Aviation Administration is seeking comments to a proposed temporary Military Air Space that they wish to establish over Central Wisconsin. “Lightning” as it is called is depicted in green in the image above.

A copy of the study may be found to the right in the box.

Comments are due by March 8th, 2010.

Duffy’s Aircraft and the Marshfield Airport Committee are once again opposed to this change.

  1. 1.The MOA would be established over Marshfield and would also affect the airport of Stevens Point and Marshfield

  2. 2.Once a temporary MOA is established, we are concerned it may become permanent.

  3. 3.The Wisconsin Military Airspace seems to be more popular as of late. There are other areas in this great nation with less congestion where the military can practice without disrupting general aviation.

The following is a note from Duffy:

Please make your responses heard.

Year after year the Military has asked for more and more from the Wisconsin General Aviation Community and from the citizens of Central Wisconsin. They have expanded The Bombing range into multiple Military Operation Areas (MOAs) throughout Central Wisconsin.  These MOAs along with the facilities at Volk and Fort McCoy have turned this area into a premier operation that attracts wings from many other states. Civilian Aviation in Wisconsin should not have to bear the burdens that the military is putting on us.

A good example is the temporary lightning MOA. IT is my experience if we don't’ object to this, they will use it repeatedly until it is turned into a permanent MOA. This would be charted five full days per week like the existing MOA are.

Therefore it is important for General Aviation to say enough is enough.
